Black Eyed Peas Star Will.i.am Launches High-Tech Face Mask XUPERMASK

XUPERMASK – Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am is selling a high-tech face mask called XUPERMASK. The protective gear is designed to fit the “sci-fi times” we are living in.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, everyone is now required to wear face masks in public. All of us are advised to wear a face mask even if we do not feel sick.

This protective gear is a simple barrier to help prevent our respiratory droplets from reaching other people. Health experts say that face masks reduce the spray of droplets when worn.

Will.i.Am, the frontman of the hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas, is about to launch his high-tech face mask called XUPERMASK. The American singer may be known for producing chart-topping hits, but over the years he also becomes a tech innovator.

It’s not known to many that he had been a tech innovator for a while now. The singer had invested in Beats Electronics and Tesla. He also became a director of innovation for Intel.

The pop star also owns a fashion tech company called “i.am+.” His company specializes in “wearable products.”

In an interview with USA Today, Will.i.Am disclosed that the inspiration behind his face mask is the daily problem that the people face amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “What I saw out there in the world was people had loose-fitted masks, and they had earbuds. When they got phone calls, they took the mask off and the earbuds fell on the floor, then the mask fell on the floor, and then the whole point was pointless because everything got dirty,” he said.

The rapper gathered some help with the manufacturer of N95, Honeywell, and the designer of Elon Musk’s SpaceX suits, Jose Fernandez.

Will.i.Am’s XUPERMASK has amazing features. It has noise-canceling audio, LED day glow lights, three-speed fans, microphone capabilities, Bluetooth connectivity, HEPA filters (a type of mechanical air filter, a 7-hour battery life, a magnetic earbud docking system, and an adjustable strap.

The retail price of the rapper’s high-tech face mask is $299 or around P14,538.88. The face mask goes on sale Thursday, April 8 on its official website xupermask.com.
