Off-Duty Policeman Allegedly Drunk Faces Murder Charge for Killing Neighbor

Authorities arrested an off-duty policeman who was allegedly drunk after killing his neighbor in Oton town, Iloilo province, Wednesday night.

According to the report of Manila Bulletin, the suspect was identified as Corporal Marvin Seasol, who is assigned at Arevalo police station in Iloilo City. Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, chief of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) said Seasol is facing criminal charges for killing his neighbor.

His neighbor identified as Normando Estrebor was shot several times leading to his death. Based on the police report, a drunk Seasol allegedly threw stones at the house of Estrebor family.

After few minutes, the victim and his son Ernesto went to check the throwing incident. Seasol, who held a grudge against the Estrebor family, shot Normando several times.

Seasol immediately fled the crime scene and hid in their own compound for several hours. Authorities surrounded Seasol’s compound until the suspect was convinced by the Oton councilor Sofronio Fusin, who is a former policeman, to surrender.

Police Captain Shella Mae Sangrines of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) said Seasol will face the consequences of his actions taken outside of his duty as a police officer. Seasol was charge with frustrated murder.
