Baguio LGU Requires COVID-19 Test From Tourists, Sets Daily Limit on Visitors

Baguio LGU Revises Guidelines in Accepting Tourists

BAGUIO LGU – The local government of Baguio City requires COVID-19 test from tourists and sets daily limit on visitors.

Unfortunately, the cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines are increasing again now. It’s around a year since the fight against the pandemic began and it is really one huge battle that over 200 countries and territories are facing now.

In PH, community quarantine measures are still up in the pursuit to curb the spread of the disease. Most students are still under blended learning as face-to-face classes are not yet allowed in schools.

Also, it is a protocol that everyone must wear a face mask and practice social distancing when going outdoors. Most establishments including shopping malls, grocery stores, banks, and pharmacies also require a face shield.

In line with it and the call of its hotel and restaurant employees for their safety, Baguio LGU revised its guidelines in accepting tourists and visitors. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, tourists are now required to undergo a COVID-19 test 72 hours before arrival in the city.

According to Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong, the employees of hotels and restaurants are worried about their safety amid the previous removal of the requirement for antigen test. They are concerned not only for their safety but as well as their families.

Based on the report, aside from the COVID-19 test requirement, Baguio LGU also decided to put a limit on the number of visitors they’ll allow to enter the city daily. Only 3,000 people per day through the reservation system may be granted entry to the city.

Meanwhile, Mayor Magalong assured that the recent changes may be lifted again once the situation gets better. The new regulations are set to be implemented starting today, March 19.
