Alex Gonzaga as a COVID-19 survivor
Actress-host Alex Gonzaga shared the lesson she learned after she tested positive for COVID-19 back in October 2020.
Alex was one of the celebrities who infected and shared her journey while battling the disease. Her parents also tested positive and through her vlog, she shared how she and her family won this fight.
In a recent Inquirer interview, the Lunch Out Loud host said that at that time, there is one thing that she really realized.
“That’s when I realized that as you plan your life, it’s also important that you offer those plans to God. You have to be patient, too, because everything happens in His time. You don’t own your life. Things can change and you realize that you don’t even have a plan for these changes,” she said.
At that time, she and now-husband Mikee Morada were already planning their wedding. In the same month that she tested positive, that was also the start of her stint on the new TV5 noontime show.
Alex Gonzaga shared that she received a message from her friend Luis Manzano during the time she was in quarantine. Luis asked if how they were getting by.
Alex had this answer: “I said, ‘We’re getting by. We’re almost on our 14th day in quarantine.’ I think we were on our ninth or 10th day already. Then he said, ‘Wow! You guys beat Covid! Ang galing!’ That’s when I realized that, ‘Yeah! We’re lucky to be among those who eventually beat COVID-19!’”
The actress also shared that she was more worried about her parents as they were already seniors. Thankfully, their faith helped them a lot in battling against this obstacle in their lives.
Alex Gonzaga stressed how she is lucky that her mental health is stable and she attributed this to her parents. “Our faith grew as a family. So if I was feeling down during the day, I know that I would get a reset around 5 or 6 p.m., after our study sessions. That’s really how I was able to get by during the lockdown,” she shared.
