PhilHealth Clarifies the Missing P15 Billion Allegedly Pocketed by Officials

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) clarifies the controversial P15 billion missing after allegedly stolen by corrupt officials.

On Facebook, PhilHealth posted on their page clarifying that they have not lose the P15 billion that was previously said to have been pocketed by its corrupt senior officials.

According to PhilHealth, the P15 billion has not lost but has already gone to hospitals as assistance in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The said money was given to 711 hospitals in the country to keep them open to patients in need of treatment.

“Napunta ito sa 711 ospital sa bansa bilang ayuda sa pandemya at para mapanatili silang bukas para sa mga pasyenteng nangangailangan ng gamutan,” said PhilHealth.

The state insurer added that the said money was “properly accounted for” because it went to the patient-beneficiaries and “not into someone else’s pocket.” state insurer further asserted that P14.21 billion has been liquidated or 95 percent of the total Interim Reimbursement Mechanism (IRM) issued nationwide.

PhilHealth added that of the 711 health care facilities funded, 516 are fully liquidated; 153 are at 50 percent liquidated; and 42 are in the lower 42 percent liquidated.

However, their clarification post earned criticisms from the online community. Many netizens expressed skepticism in this post by PhilHealth.
