Man Pretending as “Archangel” Against Evil Spirits Arrested for Extorting P2M

Police arrested a man pretending as “archangel” to fight evil spirits but extorts P2 million and threatened the victim if not granted.

A man was arrested in an entrapment operation after a victim complained of extortion amounting to P2 million. The suspect allegedly offered his victim protection against evil spirits that led to threatening.

Based on the report GMA News “24 Oras” on Friday, the suspect was identified as Rickson Aviso, who was arrested by personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation-Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD).

According to the victim, he met the suspect as he introduces himself as “Archangel Ariel” on social media and offered protection against evil spirits. Following this, the suspect allegedly started threatening and demanded money from the victim amounting to P2 million.

Atty. Michelle Valdez, Executive Officer, NBI-CCD said, the subject first took the victim’s heart as a reason for the victim to trust him. Later, when he got her trust, he asked for money.

Valdez added that someone is still intimidating or threatening her as a reason to give money. The suspect, who is facing the corresponding complaint, refused to give a statement.
