Palace is mum about the controversial vaccination of Mon Tulfo using smuggled vaccines.
MON TULFO – Columnist and special envoy to China Mon Tulfo vaccinated with a smuggled vaccine and the Palace expressed “no opinion” about this.
“I now confess to the public: I had myself vaccinated — along with some government officials whose names I won’t mention here — with the Sinopharm vaccine last October. Some members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) were also injected with the same vaccine.”
This is what Ramon “Mon” Tulfo has written in his column for The Manila Times that drew ire online. He withheld names of other officials he’s with on receiving the smuggled Sinopharm vaccine for COVID-19. Such a vaccine is manufactured by a Chinese government-owned pharmaceutical company.
It resulted to many distateful remarks and reactions from netizens despite his statement of “risking his life” as he applied to be a local distributor. Also, he injected ahead of the health workers who are on top of the list to have it.
Tulfo is President Rodrigo Duterte‘s special envoy to China and Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was unsure whether he got extended or not. Also, with the smuggled vaccine issues, thed Palace spoked no words about it.
Roque even expressed he doesn’t understand the “big deal” about his writeup and told critics that it is better to ask Tulfo about as they cannot speak on his behalf. In his writeup, Tulfo revealed that a senator, some Cabinet officials, and some members of Duterte’s security team received the smuggled vaccine.
He also expressed no reaction as he understands the want of the people to be protected in this time of pandemic. But what he wants to tell people is to wait to go through the process for our own interest. He also didn’t confirm if the president has talked to representative of Sinopharm and willing to ask for samples of its vaccine.
Roque just said, “Hindi po ako tagapagsalita ng aking kaibigan na si Mon Tulfo so lahat po ng question n’yo kay Mon Tulfo, paki-direct po kay Mon Tulfo. I can only speak for the President.”
