Manila Mayors Approve Lowering Age Restrictions to 15 Above

The Manila mayors and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases approved the easing of age restrictions.

The Metro Manila Council and IATF agreed to lower the age limit of minors allowed to go outside. The mayors across the National Capital Region agreed to allow persons 15 years old and above to leave their homes.

Earlier this week, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) proposed to place the entire Philippines under modified general community quarantine to revive the country’s economy.

Age Restrictions

NEDA wants to ease the quarantine restrictions to reduce the hunger in the country and give job opportunities to the displaced Filipino workers. IATF also gives a nod to the proposal but it was still subject for the approval of President Rodrigo Duterte.

As of February 2021, Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Batangas, Tacloban City, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Iligan City are under GCQ while the remaining parts of the Philippines is under MGCQ.

Age Restrictions

Presidential adviser for entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion wants the government to take it easy and no need to rush the decision regarding the health crisis.

“Siyempre, timplahan mo ‘yan. Kung tumaaas ang infection, e ‘di okay, dahan-dahan muna tayo. Pero tamang-tama, ‘yung vaccine dadating na nitong May, June, and onward, no?” Concepcion said.
