Harry Roque Shady Statement, Is He Taking A Swipe At Vice Ganda?

Did Harry Roque just take a swipe at Vice Ganda following the COVID-19 vaccine controversy?

HARRY ROQUE – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has this intriguing statement saying not to trust comedian regarding serious issues.

Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine has created a great buzz in the country as it is the government’s choice for the people. However, the controversy regarding this is about its price and efficacy rate. Its efficacy rate is lesser than any other vaccines while the price is a bit higher compared to other brands.

With all these loud buzzes about the vaccine, Vice Ganda once said in his social media post, “Sa sabong panlaba nga choosy tayo e sa bakuna pa kaya. Ano to basta may maisaksak lang?! Vaklang twoooaahhh!!!”

This is in reply to Presidential Spokesperson Roque’s statement to people to not be picky when it comes to the brand of vaccine that the government will be going to acquire. He reasoned out that with a lot of Filipinos that will need the vaccine, people must not be choosy.

And in a recent briefing of the spokesperson, although he did not directly identify who he was referring to, he expressed that it is not right to compare the vaccine to “sabong panlaba”. It was accordingly because the vaccine, unlike the soap, only has limited sources.

“Kaya nga po hindi lang isa, hindi lang dalawa, kundi taltlong grupo pa ng eksperto ang mag-susuri kung ang mga bakuna ay ligtas at epektibo,” he added. He even furthered that if people cannot trust experts, they can’t definitely trust comedians.

The country has secured 25 million doses of coronavirus vaccines from China’s Sinovac Biotech, 17 million doses from British drugmaker AstraZeneca and 30 million doses of Indian-made Covovax vaccine.
