Netizens criticized the speech of Paulo Avelino
Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2020 Best Actor Paulo Avelino has this speech after he accepted his award and this was criticized by netizens.
Paulo is definitely one of the sought-after leading men in this generation in the entertainment industry. He already did various roles on TV and in movies.
He has been lauded by entertainment critics for his performances in the past and just recently, his performance in the movie Fan Girl received an award.
In his speech, the actor mentioned about being hopeful and he dedicated his award for his son Aki with former partner LJ Reyes.
“Pinapanalangin ko na umayos na ang lahat. Kumapit lang tayo, na giginhawa ulit ang pamumuhay natin,” the actor said. He also mentioned his son, “This is for you Aki.”
Based on the article by entertainment columnist Rose Garcia in Abante, the simple and short speech of Paulo for his Best Actor award received criticism online.
It was said that some slammed him for saying that everything will be better as he was the only one who received an award. Apparently, some netizens can’t reconcile why he had to say that.
The columnist pointed out that what the actor said was clear. It is because he said, “ipinapanalangin”. Apparently, that was he is praying for everybody.
Then, Garcia said that there are those netizens who slammed Paulo for dedicating his award to his son. Some said that what Aki needs is a father and not his trophy.
Meanwhile, in a recent article, LJ Reyes was asked about Paulo Avelino’s relationship with their son. The actress appeared to be aloof in answering this kind of question.
