Lead stars and director of Fan Girl talked about this MMFF 2020 entry
Paulo Avelino, Charlie Dizon, and Direk Antoinette Jadaone talked about their movie Fan Girl, one of the official entries in Metro Manila Film Festival 2020 (MMFF).
Charlie played the role of Jane who is an avid fan of Paulo who played himself in the movie. He let his fan enter his world and Jane was about to fulfill her dream of spending a night with the star she admires, based on the article from The Philippine Star.
“Most of the time, magkaiba talaga kung sino sila sa screen (and outside of it). These are the two concepts that I put together,” Direk Antoinette said about the movie.
She added that although Fan Girl has a heavy theme it is relatable. The director also described the movie as “rom-com and anti-rom-com”. “Kung saan saan (ito) napunta dahil yung fan girl natin na si Jane, ibang klase siyang fan girl parang lumaban siya sa idol niya sa buong pelikula,” she said.
For Charlie, it was very challenging doing this movie as it was her first lead role but it was a rewarding experience as well. “Overall, I’m happy with what we have done in the movie. More than me feeling pressured, I’m now more excited,” the actress said.
For Paulo, the real challenge was not acting. “You were just natural in what you were doing bilang ikaw with some added factors. The real challenge was how to become organic in the scene and in delivering the lines,” The Fan Girl lead actor said.
