Bahrain Approves Pfizer/BioNTech As Vaccine Against COVID-19

Bahrain becomes the second country to approve the use of Pfizer/BioNTech, a vaccine against COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic is the biggest global challenge this year and also one of the biggest that the world has encountered so far. It has infected over 66 million people across the globe.

Out of the said total number, around 1.5 million people of the coronavirus disease. The total recoveries now is at 45 million. Even the World Health Organization (WHO) was alarmed by the rapid spread of the disease.

Many awaits the development and successful trial of a COVID-19 vaccine. WHO warned countries not to let their guards down early to prevent the spike of cases again.

Meanwhile, there are rays of light now as several drugs are doing well in trials as a COVID-19 vaccine. In fact, the United Kingdom has already approved the use of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Recently, another country, Bahrain, granted its approval on the use of Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority CEO Dra. Mariam Al Jalahma said that the approval of the vaccine “will add a further important layer to the Kingdom’s national COVID-19 response”.

Last November, the Gulf Arab state has reportedly given its green signal to Sinopharm’s COVID-19 vaccine for the frontline workers. The Philippines is also one of the countries that recorded cases of COVID-19. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has called to the United Nations (UN) for universal access to the COVID-19 vaccine once it passed through all the necessary stages from the development to the trials and distribution.
