Proud Leni Robredo Says Youngest Daughter & Her Friends Raised Over P1 Million For Typhoon Victims
ROBREDO – Vice President Leni Robredo said her youngest daughter Jillian and her friends were able to raise P1 million for the typhoon victims.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the arrival of the typhoons, Vice President Leni Robredo has been active on social media sharing updates and photos that showed her helping the affected Filipinos and medical workers.
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte appeared displeased over this. He lashed out against the Vice President seemingly accusing her of asking his whereabouts. Palace said Duterte won’t say sorry to Robredo.
Leni Robredo reacted to it and said she never asked about the whereabouts of Duterte. Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque then pointed out the Tweets of her daughters.
Tricia Robredo said in a tweet, “Tulog pa rin? Alas otso na.” Her sister Aika Robredo responded, “Sabado eh. Weekend.”
After Roque cited their posts on social media, Robredo defended her daughters. She said she has trained them to stand up for themselves and their beliefs.
On Sunday, the Vice President said her youngest daughter Jillian Robredo and her classmates and friends were able to raise over 1 million pesos from a donation drive for the typhoon victims.
“Yung bunso kong anak, nagkaroon din ng sariling fund drive yung magkakaklase saka magkakaibigan. Naka-raise din sila ng I think more than a million pesos,” she said.
The politician said her daughter and her friends chose to adopt a community in Pasacao in Camarines Sur. They distributed housing materials. She praised her three daughters for remaining strong and committed to public service despite the netizens’ criticisms.
Recently, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo urged the Vice President to avoid broadcasting her typhoon relief operations. He said she’s making it appear that she’s the only government official who is working during the calamity.
