Salvador Panelo Criticizes Robredo for Allegedly Politicizing Relief Operations
PANELO – Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo criticized Vice President Leni Robredo for broadcasting typhoon relief operations.
Vice President Leno Robredo helped distribute relief goods for the victims of Super Typhoon Rolly and Typhoon Ulysses. In a Twitter post on Friday morning, she confirmed her early visit to some areas affected by the typhoons.
Amid the onslaught of the typhoon, the hashtag #NasaanAngPangulo trended on all social media platforms. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte lashed out against Robredo seemingly accusing her of asking his whereabouts. He said he’s in the Palace attending the Summit and the military was already deployed 2 days before the onslaught of the typhoon.
In a report, Palace said Rodrigo Roa Duterte will not apologize to Robredo over his negative remarks. Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo urged Leni Robredo to do good deeds without publicity instead let her recipients share the news.
“If you are there, people will talk about it and word will spread that you’ve been there. It will reach the ears of those who are appreciative of what you’re doing…”
“You don’t have to broadcast every move, every help that you want to give to the people. Mas maganda tahimik lang,” he added.
Salvador Panelo criticized the Vice President for allegedly politicizing her relief operations and making it appear that she’s the only government official who’s working.
“You want to be credited that you’re helping the people and making it appear that the President is not. ‘Yun ang problema,” said Panelo.
