Will Rabiya Mateo be the next Miss Universe?
Ilongga beauty queen Rabiya Mateo expressed that she is aiming to bring home the 5th Miss Universe crown.
Rabiya is having her grand homecoming and the caravan that took place in the city of Iloilo received a warm welcome from the Ilonggos who feel proud of what the beauty queen has achieved.
From the airport, on November 13, the 23-year-old beauty headed to the Iloilo City Hall for her courtesy call with Mayor Jerry Treñas. Then, a parade around the city was held. People were waiting in the streets to welcome the new queen, based on the article from PEP.
On Friday night, Rabiya Mateo was the special guest for the lighting ceremony and a homecoming dinner was also held. During the ceremony, the beauty queen was awarded special recognition.
In her impromptu speech, she shared how she aimed to make Iloilo City proud even though many people expressed doubt.
“And there were a lot of comments saying that I will never be Miss Universe Philippines. But I choose to surround myself with people who wanted me to win. And I would always remind myself the glory and the honor that I will bring back to Iloilo City once I have the crown on top of my head. And Iloilo City, we finally made it,” the Ilongga beauty queen said.
As she is offering her success to every Ilonggo, she also promised her “kababayans” to bring home the crown.
“And now, I will promise that I will do my very best to bring home the fifth crown for the Philippines but most especially for my Iloilo City,” Rabiya Mateo said.
Four Pinay beauty queens in the past were crowned Miss Universe, Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018).
