Pfizer CEO Says Bold Claims About Their COVID-19 Vaccine Candidate
PFIZER COVID-19 VACCINE – The CEO of Pfizer claimed their vaccine candidate is the “greatest medical advance in the last 100 years”.
As the coronavirus remained rampant, scientist race to provide the world with a vaccine. Meanwhile, Pfizer may be close to completing theirs, claiming their candidate was 90% effective against the new coronavirus.
According to an article from CNN, Pfizer CEO Albert Bouria said:
You can imagine how I felt when I heard the results yesterday at 2 p.m. I think that likely, based on impact, this will be the greatest medical advance in the last 100 years. It is extraordinary, but it’s coming at a time that the world needs it the most.
Furthermore, he said that they are have a “very high level of confidence” in their vaccine. Additionally, he emphasized that there were no safety concerns while testing the vaccine. Still, he asserted that the company needs to wait until all test results are completed.
Moreover, Pfizer aimed to produce 1 billion doses of the vaccine for worldwide distribution in 2021. As per the article, around 10 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine should be available to the United Kingdom by the end of the year if approved.
However, a Downing Street spokesperson said it was still unclear how long the vaccine can protect against the new coronavirus.
