Albay No Power For 2 Months As 77% Of Power Lines Left Severely Damage After Rolly
ALBAY NO POWER – According to Albay’s local power distributor, it may take at least 2 months to restore power back to the province following the onslaught of Super Typhoon Rolly.
According to Lesley Capus, head of the Albay Power and Energy Corporation (APEC) at least 77% of electric poles throughout the province were severely damaged. Meanwhile, he did note that some parts of the second district may have their power restored earlier as the damage in the area wasn’t that severe.
Furthermore, based on an article from Inquirer, Capus stated:
It will also depend on the availability of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines Daraga 69 kV Transmission Lines. We need to ensure our lines and facilities are repaired and safe
Along with this, power restoration in several areas could also possibly be delayed due to impassable roads. With strong winds and intense rainfall, Typhoon Rolly ravaged through the province leaving people homeless and establishments in ruin.
Meanwhile, Capus emphasized that they had already talked to local service contractors to assist them in the line clearing repairs. For its repair team, ten augmentation teams from other electric distributors from the Philippines would also help to restore power to the severely-hit province.
Moreover, APEC is also reaching out the the communities, volunteer groups, and other organizations to help them in clearing the utility poles with debris and fallen trees caused by the typhoon.
