Liza Soberano vs. Parlade: General Will Not Apologize To Actress Over Warning

General Parlade will not say sorry to Liza Soberano and denied red-tagging her.

LIZA SOBERANO – Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade says he will not apologize to Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano and refuted accusations of red-tagging her.

Southern Luzon military commander and spokesman of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr was previously criticized online over his controversial warning to Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano. The statement he made was after the actress attended a webinar of Gabriela and spoke about women and children’s rights.

She encouraged other influencers online to join her speak and use voice for them. But her intention made the general warn her that if she will continue supporting, she might face the fate of the late activist Josephine “Jo” Lapira. The activist died way back November 2017 during clash between government troops against suspected members of New People’s Army in Nasugbu, Batangas.

In a previous article, the actress is not afraid of the general’s “unsolicited advice” as per legal counsel of Soberano, Atty. Juanito Lim Jr and that she will still continue her “right to free speech and expression without fear or restraint from anyone”. Parlade also mentioned other vocal women such as Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Angel Locsin in his Facebook post.

In his recent interview over ABS-CBN News Channel on Friday, the general said “I don’t need to apologize. Why should I apologize?” as he denied accusations against him red-tagging the actress. He even added that the family of the actress is thankful and he doesn’t have any intention of hurting the 22-year-old actress.

The military official said, “Definitely, I did not red-tag Liza [Soberano]. In fact, I came in to defend her position na it’s okay to be an activist and to defend women’s rights. It’s not right that we don’t inform Liza [Soberano] about the nature of Gabriela Youth to which she was engaging with during the webinar.”
