FACEBOOK SHUT DOWN – President Duterte lashes out at Facebook initially threatening it shut down in the country, netizens express sentiments.
In a previous report, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa DuterteĀ slammed popular social media platform Facebook for taking down Philippine military āadvocacyā pages and accounts of the government. This is due huge numbers of fake news spreading in the platform and the taking of numerous pages came along with some changes.
āNow, if government cannot espouse or advocate something which is good for the people, then whatās your purpose in my country?ā he said threatening to stop Facebook in the country. However, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque clarified the following day that the president is not planning to ban the social media in the Philippines. He just want a talk with the persons behind over the matter.
With this, the hashtag #KapagNawalaAngFacebook is trending on Twitter, where netizens expressed their sentiments what would probably be the implications of not having Facebook. As much as we are all aware of, Facebook has become a lot of people’s platform to share photos, thoughts, videos, and many others.
If ever the Facebook will be banned in the country, some people expressed their sadness as they will not be able to easily contact distant relatives while others said it would just be fine as it would prevent them from toxic people.
