Pres. Duterte Speaks About Popular Social Media Platform Facebook
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte slammed Facebook for taking down the “advocacy” accounts of the government.
Facebook is undeniably one of the most popular social media platforms now across the globe. A huge part of the total populace has FB accounts that can be used in several purposes.
The primary purpose of Facebook is for communication and entertainment. It connects people who are miles away from each other through its chat feature.
As entertainment, Facebook is a venue where people can play games, post their photos, videos, or anything they want to share to the world, listen to songs, and a lot more.
However, due to the massive spreading of fake news on Facebook, the people behind the social media platform has made some changes. They also took down several pages and accounts.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, among the pages taken down by Facebook are the Philippine military “advocacy” pages and accounts of the government. Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte reacted to this.
The President questioned the existence of the social media platform in the Philippines if even the “advocacy” pages of the government were taken down. Based on the report, he stressed that the platform was allowed here in the country so it can also help the government.
“Now, if government cannot espouse or advocate something which is good for the people, then what’s your purpose in my country?” he said during a late-night televised national address.
Pres. Duterte stressed that the government is “not advocating” negatively through those Facebook pages. He wants to talk to the people behind the social media platform to talk about its purpose for taking down those pages.
