4 Injured & Some Residents Gone Missing After Powerful Tremor Hits Masbate
A certain official said that four people were injured and several residents are missing after magnitude 6.6 quake hits Masbate.
On Tuesday (August 18, 2020), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded magnitude 6.6 tremor in Cataingan town, Masbate. The powerful tremor causes damage to several houses and establishment in the area.
The seismology agency initially measured the quake at Cataingan town, Masbate (5 kilometers southwest of Cataingan town). The strong quake also triggered fear and panic to the public who experienced the shaking.
Recently, Masbate provincial administrator Rino Revalo reported that four residents suffered minor injuries and while some residents are still missing in Cataingan town after struck by the tremor.
Revalo also reported that the injured residents are now being treated at the town district hospital while the authorities are still looking for the missing residents after the 3-story house of a policeman collapsed.

“Walang makapagsabi ilan tao nandun nung tinamaan ng lindol. Patuloy na pinaghuhukay ang area na binagsakan,” Revalo said.
The official also advised the quake-affected residents to consult city engineers first before returning to their homes for assessment.
“Sa mga kababayan naming lubhang naapektuhan ng lindol, naapektuhan ang bahay, i-assess nang mabuti. Kung kinakailangan, mag-stay sa kamag-anak until properly assessed ang structure na kanilang matutuluyan,” Revalo added.
