Sultan Kudarat Mayor Confirms Teacher Died of COVID-19
TEACHER – A 61-year-old educator in Sultan Kudarat who is supposedly set to retire next year died of COVID-19.
The situations in the Philippines have changed a lot compared last year. Now, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the people have to wear masks and practice social distancing when going outdoors.
A lot of individuals also do not only wear face masks but as well as face shields. Everyone is encouraged to limit going outdoors for very essential purposes like work and the purchase of food only.
Currently, there is a total of 147,526 cases of coronavirus recorded in the country with 2,426 deaths and 70,387 recoveries. Recently, there are huge daily increases of not less than 3,500 cases.

Classes in elementary and secondary schools have yet to open. Supposedly, the start of the school year is in June. It was transferred to August and, recently, the Department of Education (DepEd) moved it to October.
Teachers continue to work even though the school year has yet to start. Sadly, in Sultan Kudarat, a teacher fell victim to COVID-19. The 61-year-old educator who is due to retire next year died of coronavirus.
Based on a report on GMA News, Mayor Maritess Pallasigue said that the remains of the educator were already cremated. She fever and mild coughs so she was brought to the hospital where she went through the COVID-19 test.
The people who had a contact with the teacher who tested positive for COVID-19 include her husband who is a school principal, their relatives, their neighbors, and some of her co-teachers. According to the City Mayor, 65 educators who had a close contact with her are now under quarantine.
The husband of the educator is also under quarantine and his swab samples have been taken already thus the result is awaited. Four (4) of her co-teachers tested positive in the rapid testing.
