NASA Releases Mind-blowing 10-Year Time Lapse of the Sun

NASA – The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) released a mesmerizing 10-year time-lapse of the sun.

The mission of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is to do space exploration, aeronautics research, and scientific discovery. It is an independent agency of the United States Federal Government.

Recently, the agency’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) released a video of a 10-year time-lapse of the sun. It was uploaded on NASA’s Youtube channel on June 24.

NASA’s SDO has been watching the closest star continuously for over a decade. Based on the description of the video, America’s space agency has taken over 425 million high-resolution images of the sun. They have used 20 million gigabytes of data over the past ten years.

Their research has allowed for many discoveries about hos the sun works and how it drives the space weather and affects the solar system. The video is a compilation of the images taken by the SDO every hour.

The photos of the sun were capture at a wavelength of 17.1 nanometers. You can see the rise and fall of the sun’s activity in the video. It occurs as part of the sun’s 11-year solar cycle.

“Compiling one photo every hour, the movie condenses a decade of the Sun into 61 minutes. The video shows the rise and fall in activity that occurs as part of the Sun’s 11-year solar cycle and notable events, like transiting planets and eruptions.”
