Bong Go Seeks Simpler and Cheaper PRC ID Renewal System
BONG GO – Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has filed a bill that aims to reduce the burden of frequent PRC ID renewals by increasing their validity from three years to five.
Bong Go has introduced a bill seeking to extend the validity of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Identification Card from the current three years to five years, a move aimed at providing greater convenience and reducing costs for licensed professionals across the country.
Under Senate Bill No. 2326, Go proposed adding two more years to the existing validity period of PRC IDs. According to the senator, the measure is intended to make life easier for professionals by minimizing the frequency of renewal requirements while allowing them to focus more on their respective careers.
Go emphasized that extending the validity of PRC identification cards would bring significant benefits to thousands of professionals nationwide. Instead of worrying about renewing their licenses every three years, professionals would have a longer period to concentrate on their work and fulfill their responsibilities without unnecessary interruptions.
The senator also pointed out the financial advantages of the proposal. Less frequent renewals would help professionals save money by reducing renewal-related expenses. These may include processing fees, transportation costs, and other incidental expenses that often accompany the renewal process.
In addition to monetary savings, the proposal is also expected to reduce the need for professionals to take time off from work just to process the renewal of their PRC identification cards. This, Go said, would allow workers to remain productive while avoiding disruptions to their schedules.
The proposed legislation recognizes the importance of making government services more efficient and responsive to the needs of licensed professionals. If approved, the bill could streamline one of the routine administrative requirements that many professionals face throughout their careers.
To implement the proposed five-year validity period, amendments would have to be made to the PRC Modernization Act, which currently provides the legal framework governing the issuance and renewal of PRC identification cards.
The bill is now awaiting legislative action in the Senate. If enacted into law, the measure could benefit a wide range of licensed professionals by offering a more practical and cost-effective renewal system while reducing administrative burdens associated with maintaining a valid PRC identification card.
