Risa Hontiveros Reacts To Radyo Pilipinas’ New Program ‘Wow China’
RISA HONTIVEROS – Here is Senator Risa Hontiveros’ reaction to Radyo Pilipinas’ new program ‘Wow China.’
China launched new facilities on the man-made island in the West Philippine Sea. The Chinese government ignored the tribunal decision.
In a report, Senator Risa Hontiveros said the Chinese government should shoulder the cost of the country’s COVID-19 response. She said their payment will amend the damages they caused in the WPS.
Risa Hontiveros also cited the data from the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute saying the damage now cost P33.1 billion. She said, “this money is past due and could go to the government’s efforts in fighting the pandemic.”
Based on a report from GMA News, Hontiveros expressed her reaction to Radyo Pilipinas’ new program called “Wow China.” She said the program is a tool of Chinese propaganda and it is being aired on a government-owned radio station under the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
“I am very disturbed that there is a radio program called ‘Wow China’ that airs on Radyo Pilipinas 738, a state-owned AM radio station of the Philippine Broadcasting Service under the Presidential Communications Operations Office…”
“PCOO should be fulfilling its mandate of helping the Filipino people with relevant and timely information, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. But instead, it is allowing a program that promotes China and its state ideology,” she added.
According to the report, Hontiveros is the Philippine government is a hypocrite for allegedly allowing foreigners to manipulate its media outlets. She wanted the program “Wow China” to be canceled immediately.
“For me, this is a betrayal of the Filipino people. Our state media should always place Filipinos’ interests and welfare first,” Hontiveros said.
