Cop Air Dismay to Sen. Riza Hontiveros Seeking Probe to Police Involved
Cop netizen air dismay to Senator Risa Hontivero for the statement defending the mentally-challenged man who was gunned down by police.
Previously, Hotiveros urged Philippine National Police (PNP) and Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to immediately probe the police who got involved in the Quezon City shooting incident, where a mentally-challenged man was gunned down by police enforcing enhanced community quarantine.
Meanwhile, a member of PNP reacts to the statement of Hotiveros saying that there’s no excuse for ‘violence’ towards ‘persons with mental illness and powerless’. His statement elicits reactions from the online community.
Samm Laurente, police, is one of the netizens who airs dismay to Hontiveros. On his comment, Laurente defended the cops who faced Ragos, saying that they’re only defending themselves from the retired soldier who’s allegedly suffering from Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Laurente slammed people like Hontiveros to understand their jobs and should also think that the life of police is important too. He also pointed out the family of Ragos should prohibit him to leave home if they are aware of his condition.
The police involved in the shooting incident, PMSg Daniel Florendo, is under investigation and possibly facing homicide charges for killing Winston Ragos y Aquino, 34, a retired AFP personnel for violating ECQ and for challenging him.
