This is accordingly true not just in the US and Philippines but also to countries all around the world as per GMA report. To recall, it started in 2016 when President Duterte expressed his wrath to the network after they were not able to air his political ads during the national elections. Since then, he swore to the public that he will do everything to block their franchise renewal.

However, just this year, during the first hearing of the franchise renewal case, ABS-CBN CEO and President Carlo Katigbak explained everything and apologized to President Duterte. In turn, the president accepted the public apology.
