Maine Mendoza Raises P500K For Daily Wage Earners

MAINE MENDOZA – Phenomenal star Maine Mendoza announced she raised more than P500,000 for daily wage earners.

Lots of informal workers in Metro Manila lost their livelihood amid the 2019 novel coronavirus pandemic. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte placed Luzon under “enhanced community quarantine” to control the spread of the Wuhan virus.

Following the announcement of the chief executive, private companies and individuals are doing their best to help the front liners and healthcare workers in fighting COVID-19 pandemic. These heroes are exempted from the lockdown.

Kapamilya actress Bela Padilla raised money for the street vendors in Metro Manila. In a previous article, she announced that her online fund drive has raised P3.3 million.

Kapuso star Maine Mendoza also raised funds to provide aid for the daily wage earners amid crisis. “I will be launching my DoNation Drive to help in my own little way, those who are greatly affected by this catastrophe,” she said in her blog.

On Wednesday, March 25, Maine announced on Twitter that her DoNation drive collected P587,677.92, seven days after it was launched. She said that as of March 25, they already distributed the money to the daily wage earners including technicians, house helpers, drivers, security guards, online sellers, farmers, and street sweepers among others.

Maine Mendoza’s team also lend a helping hand to the unemployed and homeless, as well as the single parents and janitors. All in all, they gave financial support to 587 individuals or families.
