Summer MMFF Postponed Due To Coronavirus Disease
MMFF – The organizers of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Summer festival decided to postpone the first edition of the festival.
The first edition of the Metro Manila Summer Film Festival is scheduled to take place from April 11 to 21 in cinemas nationwide. 24 films were submitted for the film festival but eight (8) films stood out and were chosen as the official entries.
The official line up of entries was announced on March 2. The event will also have ‘Parade of Stars’ just like the Metro Manila Film Festival every December.

- ‘Ngayon Kaya’ starring Janine Gutierrez and Paulo Avelino
- ‘Tagpuan’ starring Alfred Vargas, Shaina Magdayao and Iza Calzado
- ‘Love The Way You Lie’ starring Kylie Verzosa, Alex Gonzaga, and Xian Lim
- ‘The Missing’ starring Miles Ocampo, Joseph Marco, and Ritz Azul
- ‘Love or Money‘ starring Angelica Panganiban and Coco Martin
- ‘A Hard Day’ starring John Arcilla and Dingdong Dantes
- ‘Coming Home’ starring Sylvia Sanchez and Jinggoy Estrada

On Thursday, March 12, the Metro Manila Film Festival announced that the festival has been postponed. The announcement was made on MMFF’s Facebook Page following President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s televised address regarding the lockdown of Manila over novel coronavirus disease. The lockdown will be effective from March 15 to April 14.
“In light of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and health emergency, the SUMMER METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL is hereby postponed.”
MMFF has yet to announce the new dates for the summer film festival. Visit their Facebook page for updates in the coming days.
In a previous article, the release of the much-awaited Hollywood films “Mulan” and “Fast and Furious 9” were also postponed due to the coronavirus threat.
