On Friday (March 13, 2020), the Batangas Provincial Government confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in the area. The provincial government assured the public that they are ready to face the problem.

Batangas City is already making immediate actions to control the situation. Governor Hermilando Mandanas assured the residents of Batangas that there is a sufficient supply of food in the city.

Recently, Mandanas announced the cancellation classes from kindergarten to college in both public and private schools and universities after the province recorded the first case of coronavirus.

“Kailangan din naman na tayo sa Batangas ay mas mag-ingat sa mga panahong ito. Ang kapakanan ng ating mga kalalawigan ay lalo pa nating itaguyod, lalo na ang ating mga kabataan,” Mandanas said.

Mandanas declared the class suspension after President Rodrigo Duterte placed Metro Manila on lockdown starting March 15, 2020 to prevent the spread of the disease. 5 Filipino people have already died due to the virus.
