2 Young Kids Died After Playing Rifle Grenade in Dipolog City
DIPOLOG CITY – Two young kids playing a rifle grenade died after it explodes in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.
On Thursday morning (February 20, 2020), Police Lieutenant Colonel Gilzen Niño Manese of Dipolog City Police said that the two young children aging 8 and 5 years old died when the rifle grenade they were playing suddenly explodes.
Manese said that the father of the victims was attending to the “ukay-ukay” business when the incident happened. The father suddenly heard an explosion coming from the room of the children.
“Ang negosyo kasi nito ay ukay-ukay so kung makikita mo yung bahay magulo, maraming mga gamit. Sa investigation namin, naitago yung rifle grenade ng tatay,” Manese said.
The police executive said that the grandfather of the two victims was a retired policeman and he probably failed to turn over his remaining ammunition to the Philippine National Police after his retirement.
“So most probably meron silang mga savings nung una pa na hindi nila na-dispose o nai-turnover sa PNP,” the cop added.
