Jennylyn Mercado Role In “Descendants Of The Sun”, A Kapamilya Actress Was Considered?

A Kapamilya actress was allegedly considered to play the role now of Jennylyn Mercado in “Descendants Of The Sun”.

JENNYLYN MERCADO – A Kapamilya actress was allegedly considered to play the “Descendants Of The Sun” role now of Jennylyn Mercado.

Descendants Of The Sun” is a Pinoy adaptation of the hit Korean series of the same title. It is aired in GMA station featuring Dingdong Dantes, Jennylyn Mercado, Jasmine Curtis, Rocco Nacino, Pancho Magno, Chariz Solomon, Renz Fernandez, and many more. This remake is directed by Dominic Zapata.

Now, in terms of the lead role that Mercado now has, there were rumors that a Kapamilya actress was considered to play the role and accordingly, the artists mentioned from their rival network is Erich Gonzalez. Could this be true? The said role is originally portrayed by Song Hye Kyo in the Korean drama series.

Thus, the executive producer of Descendants of the Sun Winnie Hollis-Reyes made a clarification about this rumor. Accordingly, there have been no Kapamilya actress considered for the role but they did considered other Kapuso actress because at the time of the casting, Jennylyn was doing other series.

She furthered as PEP’s report, “So, there were suggestions that came up na, ‘What if si ganito na lang or si ganyan or si ganun?’ Marami ring ganun pero it was really meant for her. Parang I think it was designed for her. And kahit hinintay namin siya, she gave justice talaga so happy kaming lahat. Jennylyn talaga.”

Meanwhile, as per the remake, the KBS allowed for it to be incorporated to Filipino elements. As such, they have agreed to base the remake from the current conflicts as the country do not have the North and South. And the family backgrounds of the characters were tackled because the viewers, Filipinos, are filial.
