Black Nazarene Cross Breaks During Procession (PHOTO)
BLACK NAZARENE CROSS BREAKS – The cross of the Black Nazarene broke on Thursday as devotees swarmed to reach the image.
Based on a photo taken by the Manila Public Information Office (PIO), we could see the top part of the cross is broken.
According to reports from Manila Times, the cross broke when the image made its way along Hidalgo Street before noon.
However, this was not the first time the Black Nazarene’s cross was broken during the translacion. As per the report, in 2019 and 2014 the cross broke as devotees rushed to reach the image.
However, the Manila Public Information office clarified what really happened in the photo taken.
While it is true that a portion of the cross was bended when it was turning right on Hidalgo Street, that portion was actually detachable and bendable

Leonen added that the photographer who sent in the photos did not include the full context of the situation.
The Black Nazarene’s procession began at Quirino Grandstand at 4:00 a.m. on Thursday and was on its way to Quiapo Church.
The Procession of the Black Nazarene has been one of the most sacred events in the Philippines’ history. Thousands of people swarm the streets for a chance to reach the image which is believed to be miraculous.
Even notable figures in the entertainment industry are devotees. Actors like Coco Martin who made a petition to the Black Nazarene to grant his wishes in life. His wishes were eventually granted by being a devotee.
