Miriam Quiambao’s Reaction To Major Change In PH Pageantry

Here’s Miriam Quiambao’s Reaction To Major Change In PH Pageant Scene

MIRIAM QUIAMBAO – Former beauty queen Miriam Quiambao aired her thoughts about the major change in the Philippine pageantry.

In December last year, Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) announced that the former beauty queen Shamcey Supsup will lead the organization that will send the country’s rep to the future edition of the MU pageant. The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) is led by Stella Marquez Araneta for 55 years now.

Recently, Miss Universe 1999 Miriam Quiambao was interviewed by ABS-CBN about her thoughts about the major change in the pageant scene in the county.

According to the report, Miriam Quiambao said she had mixed emotion about the big change. “Actually very sudden ‘yung biglang news na hindi na nga Binibing Pilipinas kasi for the longest time, institution na talaga ‘yung BPCI and wala kang ibang maiisip na mag-o-organize ng Miss Universe kundi BPCI. So nung nabalitaan ko nga na hindi na sila, parang nalungkot ako pero at the same time nagpasalamat din ako,” she said.

Miriam Quiambao said she’s grateful for the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. for helping a lot of girls in making their dreams of becoming a beauty queen come true. She believed that it’s also time to try a new breed of organizers.

The 44-year-old celebrity could not think of a better group to replace the organizer than that of Shamsay Supsup and Jonas Gaffud. She believed that both of them “will give new energy to the Miss Universe.”

“They give the best trainings for our representatives. There is so much more that we can hope for dito sa bagong organizers ng Miss U dahil sa tingin ko, there’s no one else better to organize it but their group,” Miriam said.

Based on the report, Miriam Quiambao gave one tip to the aspiring beauty queens who want to represent the country in the international pageant. She said all of them should have a purpose.

“Ang laging binibigay kong tip is first and foremost is start with your purpose. Everything begins and ends with your purpose. Maraming mga kababaihan, sumasali ng pageant or talent competition dahil gusto nila to bring a name for themselves. But in my experience, if ‘yung pangalang pansarili ang laging iniisip, may hangganan ‘yan…”

“Ngunit kung layunin ang iniisip natin, ‘yung purpose that is greater than ourselves, manalo or matalo, ang layunin mo mas pang matagalan iyan. So ang tip ko, isipin nila kung ano ba ang layunin nila kung bakit sila sasali. Pang-sarili ba or para sa mas higit pa?” she added.
