Ham Prices Goes Up A Few Days Before Christmas

NOCHE BUENA ITEMS – Ham prices have already increased a few days before the most anticipated Christmas 2019.

Over the past few weeks, everybody is already busy buying gifts and grocery products for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. Most people are already buying Noche Buena items for this year’s celebration.

However, the prices of some grocery products especially ‘Noche Buena’ items have already increased a few days before Christmas Day. The soaring prices of Christmas Eve meals cause burden to the Filipino people.

Recently, the prices of ‘Ham’ have increased by P20 to P40 per kilo from the previous retail prices. Ham is one of the most common and popular dishes served during the Yuletide Season.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is also monitoring the prices of grocery products and also advised the public to purchase early to avoid the holiday rush. The consumers may be also forced to buy per piece rather than per kilo if the price is too high.

A certain store in Quiapo is selling various types of ham with the following prices:

  • Bone-in ham – P1,360
  • Deboned ham – P1,260
  • Sweet Chinese sliced ham – P1,360
  • Cooked pear-shaped ham – P1,040
  • Scrap ham – P1,300
  • Ham with separate syrup – P1,500
