PAGASA – Kammuri Slowing Down, Less Likely To Become Super Typhoon
PAGASA – Typhoon Kammuri is expected to hit several venues during the 2019 SEA Games, however, it is now slowing down.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Kammuri’s intensification into a super typhoon is less likely.
However, they did note that it is still a possibility. Once the typhoon enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, it would be given the local name of, “TISOY”.
It would bring heavy rains and thunderstorms starting Monday next week. Adding to this, SEA Games venues would experience strong winds and heavy rains from Tuesday.
According to an article from ABS-CBN, as of 10:00 A.M., the typhoon was seen 1,220 Kilometers east of Southern Luzon.
It carries with it maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 158 kilometers per hour.
Even with the storm coming, SEA Games organizers have said that they have prepared contingency plans in case the bad weather interrupts the outdoor games.
