Alamada, Cotabato Suspends Classes Due To Bad Weather
ALAMADA – Government units in Alamada, Cotabato, recently cancelled classes up to elementary in both private and public due to bad weather.
The weather was earlier reported by weather agency PAGASA, who also said that a low pressure area (LPA) recently enhanced into a tropical depression. The LPA will be called Marilyn once it enters PAR.
A report from Inquirer states that Cotabato Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Chief Mercedita Foronda said that ever since last night, the town faced moderate to heavy rainfall.
This urged Foronda to cancel classes. Here are the following villages from the town that reported the suspension to the chief.
- Paruayan
- Malitubog
- Mapurok
- Macabasa
- Mirasol
- Kitacubong
Foronda further added that she advised the families who live near the rivers and creeks, as well as landslide-prone areas, to stay alert for updates and possible situations and to evacuate when needed.
As per the report, she also ordered disaster authorities to monitor their assigned areas of responsibility.
The heavy rains in the town of Antipas resulted in the landslide and floods in Camatuan Village and Canaan Village. The Antipas disaster risk office further reported that the cornfields were flooded.
