In the previous report, he confirmed after talking to his father President Rodrigo Duterte, that ow is not the time for Paolo to run for House speaker.

He, however, mentioned that the President is informed with fellow lawmaker Rep. Isidro Ungab, in which Paolo decided to aid in Ungab’s bidding. Duterte’s PDP-Laban will also financially aid Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.

Recently, according to Inquirer, in their interview with Paolo, the representative said that he did not deny seeking the chairmanship of House committee on legislative franchises, further saying that a speaker has not elected yet but there are already rumors of building committees.

Duterte is also interested in the election, which will begin at July 22 (Monday), further saying that one of the candidates is rumored to stage a coup d’état, rejecting the President’s endorsement of Alan Peter Cayetano.

He lastly said that the battle of the three candidates and their backers for House speakership is far from over.

“May election pa sa July 22 at doon ako mas interesado, kung sino ang manalo. Kasi may balita balita, may isa sa tatlo na balak mag coup d’etat on the day. Mukhang hindi pa tapos ang laban para sa kanilang tatlo at sa mga backers nila”

As per the report, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Cayetano will share the term, which will last for three years, with Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco. Leyte Representative Martin Rouladez, on the other hand, will serve as a Majority Leader.
