Pinoy Rapper Shanti Dope’s “Amatz” Will No Longer be Aired
The National Telecommunications Commission ordered the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster ng Pilipinas to ban Shanti Dope’s song “Amatz”.
NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba sent a letter to KBP President Herman Z Basbano containing the directive not to air Shanti Dope’s “Amatz” on members stations.
The Pinoy rapper’s song allegedly violated Article 15, Section 4 of Broadcaster’s Code of the Philippines, according to NTC.
The agency described the lyrics of the song promoting racism, indecent, substance abuse, violence, gender discrimination, and other offensive characteristics.
The song lyrics says “lakas ng amats ko, sobrang natural, walang halong kemikal,” and “ito hinangad ko, lipadin ay mataas pa sa kayang ipadama sayo ng gramo, di bale ng musika ikamatay.”
PDEA Director General Aaron N. Aquino claimed that the song refers to the high effect of any chemical compound and contrary to Duterte Administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Aquino also urged the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), ABS-CBN Corporation, and the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to hinder the airing of song in various media stations nationwide.
