MMDA Plans To Shut Down All Bus Terminals Along EDSA by May 2019

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is planning to shut down all the bus terminals along EDSA by May 2019.

On Monday (April 22, 2019), General Manager Jojo Garcia said that the agency wants to close all bus terminals along EDSA next month.

Garcia also said that they have already coordinated with the local government units aiming to cancel the business permits of provincial terminals.

The agency wants to implement the ban of provincial buses along EDSA by May 15, 2019 for improvement of traffic in the area. The provincial buses ban along EDSA started on Monday.

MMDA Special Operations Head Bong Nebrija also asked the motorists to cooperate on the dry run in order to determine the areas that need improvement.

“Ineencourage po natin ang ating mga bus operators na kung pwede po magparticipate sana sa sinasagawa nating dry run para makita po natin kung ano po yung mga areas for improvement, mga pagkukulang na kailangan natin i-correct,” Nebrija said.

Nebrija said motorists and drivers could already take Valenzuela, Sta. Rosa options due to the implementation of the ban.
