Pasay Prosecutors Indicted Antonio Trillanes For Inciting Sedition
ANTONIO TRILLANES – Pasay prosecutors indicted Senator Antonio Trillanes for inciting sedition.
Philippine senator Antonio Fuentes Trillanes is a former Navy officer and was known for leading the Oakwood Mutiny in 2003.
The politician and the 321 Armed forces of the Philippines enlisted men and junior officers called themselves as “Bagong Katipuneros.”
Antonio Trillanes is in rivalry against the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. The politician previously accused Duterte’s alleged hidden wealth.
Following a previous article, the chief executive revoked Trillanes’ amnesty and said he “abandoned the vision of the military” and now became a corrupt guy.
Meanwhile, the Pasay prosecutor indicted senator Antonio Trillanes regarding his sedition raps against President Duterte.
Based on a report from Philstar, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commissioner Manuelito Luna and Labor Undersecretary Jing Paras filed the sedition raps against Trillanes.
Assistant City Prosecutor Reynaldo Ticyado created a resolution citing the said charges dated January 29, 2019.
According to the report, Pras and Luna wanted the senator charged over his “incendiary and hateful speeches against President Duterte after issuance of Proclamation 572 that voided the amnesty granted to him during the previous administration.”
Article 142 of the Revised Penal Code means provoking to sedition can be initiated through “speeches, proclamations, writings, emblems, banners or other that can cause hostility against the government.
Based on the report, Antonio Trillanes is being sued over his interviews last September 4, 2018, when the politician allegedly stated the following statements:
- “Itong amnesty is an act of Congress. Hindi sya masusupersede ng isang executive order.”
- “Alam niyo itong si Mr. Calida ang gumawa nito eh. Syempre gustung-gusto ng amo niyang si Duterte. They’ve been trying everything to stop this hearing na iko-conduct ko kay Mr. Calida.”
- “Di ko maisip na they would go to great lengths, even make themselves look stupid para lang to get rid of me. Isa lang hamon ko eh. Pumirma sya ng waiver. Magkaalaman. Magreresign ako. Sabi ko papasok ako sa kulungan. Di mo kailangan gumawa ng ganitong kalokohan.”
