Statement of Forensic Pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun On Vaccination Issue Resurfaces
Forensic Pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun recalled her previous statement on the vaccination issue in the Philippines.
Undeniably, one of the top talks in the Philippines now is about the vaccination issue. The controversy on the Dengvaxia vaccine, which was administered under the term of former President Noynoy Aquino, has yet to come to an end.
The Dengvaxia issue is being accused as one of the causes of the current vaccination problems in the country. Recently, several regions were declared under the measles outbreak.
Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and CALABARZON are currently under the outbreak. A Manila hospital, San Lazaro hospital, is also filled with patients suffering from measles.
Several people have already died of measles and there are more than a thousand suffering from it. Most of the patients suffering from the viral infection are those children which did not receive any immunization.
The Department of Health (DOH) has previously called the parents to separate the measles vaccination from the Dengvaxia issue.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III assured that the vaccines for measles are safe, effective, and in line with the standards.
Amid the issue regarding the Dengvaxia and the measles outbreak in several areas in the Philippines now, a forensic pathologist, Dr. Raquel Fortun, recalled her statement on the vaccination issue in PH.
On her Twitter account, Dr. Fortun posted a photo containing her statement that PH may have “a bigger anti-vaccination problem” than the United States to the alleged “deformity scare”.
According to Dr. Fortun, all vaccines that were clinically proven are affected due to the alleged politicizing of an issue by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) and PAO Chief Atty. Persida Acosta.
