Jim Paredes reacts to award received by Ryan Cayabyab.
NATIONAL ARTIST AWARD – The veteran musician Jim Paredes reacts to a netizen’s comment about the award received by Ryan Cayabyab.
The National Artist Award is given to those Filipinos who have made significant contributions to the development of Philippine art and the members of the order are known as “National Artists”.
Categories under include music, dance, theater, contemporary arts, literature, film and broadcasting, architecture, design, and allied arts. The Order is by the Cultural Center of the Philippines by virtue of President Ferdinand Marcos‘s Proclamation № 1001 of April 2, 1972, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
And just recently, the veteran OPM singer and musician Jim Paredes defended the award given to Ryan Cayabyab against a netizen who firmly objected it and would rather have the award given to Nora Aunor who accordingly is the Meryl Streep of the country.

And here are some of the reactions of the netizens to this based on an entertainment website:
I’m with Jim on this one! Di masagot ni Miyako yung ibang rebuttal ni Jim. She sounded like a hater lang.
Composer, singer, conductor, record producer, star builder/discoverer, hitmaker, ano pa gusto nya to prove that Mr C deserves the award?
Agree ako kay Jim Paredes. Di masagot ni basher ung ilang punto. Mr. C is Mr. C, hindi kung sinong eklat of the Philippines. May maicompare lang.
OMG!!! Ryan Cayabyab is a legend not only in UP ( where he is considered a musical genius) but the entire world.
What made her say “so pedestrian?” anung klaseng music ba gusto nya? Taas namn ng standards mo teh.
What can you say about this?
