Kapuso actress Mikee Quintos shares her thoughts on a past issue involving her former classmates and thesis group mates.
Previously, actress-host Mikee Quintos was at the center of past headlines for allegedly not contributing to their group thesis. This past controversy subjected her to intense bashing, which took a toll on her because of the negativity.
In 2021, a student from the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) lamented on social media about a classmate “who gets good grades without having to work for it.” Although the student did not name the classmate, she hinted that her thesis mate was a celebrity and a GMA talent, prompting netizens to piece together the clues and link the post to Quintos.
She recently spoke about the issue in an interview, expressing disappointment that her classmates did not understand her perspective. While she admitted she was at fault, she said their reaction may have been driven by a lack of understanding of work demands, as she was juggling both her career and school at the time.
While she believes they could not fully grasp the nature and demands of her work, it also appears that she failed to see their side. As students, they needed to perform well to graduate on time and secure good jobs. One of the most critical requirements is the thesis, which demands full cooperation from all group members to be completed and passed smoothly.
The frustration likely stemmed from seeing her fall short in fulfilling her responsibilities for the project, which could directly affect them. In group work, when one member fails to do their part, the rest of the group also bears the consequences.
Speaking about that experience, she was affected by the bashing, but acknowledged her fault in expecting them to understand her situation with work. She failed to remember that her classmates are full-time students and that when it comes to career, she’s ahead of them.
“Fault ko yun to expect na gets na nila yun. Dapat mas ako yung naging bigger person at mas naging aware ako, mas naging sensitive ako,” she said in a podcast.
