PAGASA Announces Typhoon Yutu Intensifies As It Moves Closer To The Country

The state weather bureau PAGASA announced that Typhoon Yutu gained strength and intensified as it moves closer to the Philippines.

On Wednesday (October 24, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest updates regarding Typhoon Yutu.

The weather agency reported that Typhoon Yutu was last spotted at 2,555 kilometers east of Visayas affecting the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA said that Yutu has maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 195 kph.

The weather disturbance will be given a local name “Rosita” if it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas reported that Yutu was not expected to make a landfall in the country but its direction may still change.

Meanwhile, Davao and Soccsksargen regions would have cloudy weather conditions with thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

Rojas also said that partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.Typhoon Yutu

 

Starting this weekend or early next week, the “Amihan” or northeast monsoon bringing cold winds may prevail over Northern Luzon, which usually happens as Christmas draws closer.
