Religious to Celebrate the Feast of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist

SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST – Many religious individuals and devotees are set to celebrate the Feast of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist tomorrow.

The Philippines, a Christian nation, is a home to lots of religious devotees. Many Filipinos and foreigners living in the country often participate in the celebration of the Church and the celebration in line with faith.

Currently, many devotees are preparing for the celebration of the Feast of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist which will be held tomorrow. In some areas in the country, celebrations gathering a huge number of devotees will be held.

Based on a recent report in Manila Bulletin, there are only two Saints whose birth anniversary is being celebrated by the Catholic church – one of them is Saint John the Baptist.

According to the report, among the places wherein celebrations for the Feast of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist will be held are Batangas and Nueva Ecija.

A “Parada ng Lechon” or parade of the roasted pigs will be held in Balayan, Batangas. After the mass which would be held at the Immaculate Concepcion Parish, the decorated roasted pigs would be blessed in the name of Saint John.

While Balayan, Batangas has “Parada ng Lechon”, the Aliaga in Nueva Ecija will be celebrating the Feast of the Birth of St. John the Baptist through the “Taong Putik” Festival. It is also called by the locals as “pagsa-San Juan”. Those individuals who will be participating in the parade are covered with mud and their bodies are decorated with leaves and vines.

Based on the report, in San Juan City, a high mass will be held at the St. John the Baptist Parish and Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo will be the one who will lead it. There would also be the ‘traditional dousing of water’.

The churches are surely being prepared for the celebration of the Feast of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist tomorrow.
