3 People Reportedly Died Because Of Bagyong Urduja, NDRRMC Says

Bagyong Urduja reportedly took the lives of at least three people including a two-year-old kid, according to the report of NDRRMC.

On Saturday (December 16, 2017), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that the effects of the tropical storm have taken the lives of at least three people.

NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad said at a press briefing in Quezon City that the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) was still validating the number of reported fatalities due to the tropical storm.

Bagyong Urduja

Jalad cited the initial information of a child who died after drowning Mahaplag, Leyte flood. While one died in a landslide and the remains of one of two missing fishermen was recovered in Dinagat Island.

“Another victim was reported to have died in a landslide, also in Leyte. Meanwhile, one of the two fishermen earlier reported missing was found off the coast of Dinagat Islands,“ Jalad said quoted by GMA.

Jalad said that there are six people who were reported missing, three from Eastern Samar, and three due to a landslide in Biliran, Leyte.

Bagyong Urduja

Four people were also reported injured due to the landslides in Leyte, two in Tacloban, and two in Biliran.

Currently, Urduja has maximum sustained winds of 80 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 110 kph, moving 15 kph at west.
