2 To 4 Storms Expected To Enter PAR This August, PAGASA Says

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that about 2 to 4 storms are expected this August.

The weather bureau has advised the public to prepare for two up to four storms are expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) for the month of August. It also said that August and September are the months where tropical cyclones are developed.

Joseph Basconcillo, a weather specialist in PAGASA said that there are two to four tropical cyclones are expected to be experienced by the country this month. The historical data gathered by the agency shows that the storms could affect northern Luzon.

“Most parts of northern Luzon and northeastern Mindanao, including most parts of Palawan and eastern Samar, are expected to experience above normal rainfall this month,” said by Basconcillo quoted by Inquirer.

Normal rainfall in the northern parts of the Philippines is already expected by the weather bureau from August 2 to 8, 2017. The western sections of the country will experience the rainfall’s peak around 200 to 500 millimeters.

PAGASA also warned the residents of the affected area to be more aware and prepare for possible flood and landslide. However, the weather agency also said that the country will not suffer from El Niño or La Niña this 2017.

On Wednesday afternoon (August 02, 2017), the weather forecaster Shelly Ignacio announced that Typhoon “Noru” still remains outside PAR with low chances of entering the area after it was located 1, 540 kilometers east-northeast of northern Luzon.
