SWS Survey result shows many Filipinos will greet New Year with hope.
SWS – The result of the survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations revealed that 95% of the Filipinos who are in their adulthood will greet the New Year with hope.
Days pass by so fast that another year is about to bid farewell to the populace. Many are making the best out of the remaining days of 2016 as it won’t come again and many as well are preparing for the arrival of 2017.
There are people who are quite afraid of what the incoming year may bring them and there are also those who are hopeful as they approach 2017.
Recently, a news report in Phil Star Global stated that the SWS conducted a survey and the result showed that 95% of Pinoys who are in their adulthood stage expressed that they are entering 2017 hopeful rather than fearful. The 95% this year is three points higher from 2015’s 92%.
Based on the news report, 1,500 adults aging 18 years old and above across the nation were interviewed during the survey which was done from the third to the sixth of December. Face-to-face interviews took place.
The ‘New Year with hope’ is widespread in Luzon, National Capital Region, Mindanao, and Visayas according to the SWS. Luzon, NCR, Mindanao, and Visayas have 97, 95, 95, and 92 percents respectively.
From the 88 percent New Year hope in Mindanao last year, it rose to 95 percent this year. In Luzon, there is a four-point increase in the New Year hope as it rose from last year’s 93 percent to this year’s 97 percent.
Meanwhile, there is only a one-point increase in the NCR and in the Visayas, a two-point increase was spotted as the New Year hope rose from 2015’s 90 percent to 2016’s 92 percent.
The SWS also revealed that if based on socio-economic class, the New Year hope ‘improved across all the cl(–foul word(s) removed–)’. The upper to middle cl(–foul word(s) removed–), the masa, and the very poor class have New Year hope percentages of 99, 95, and 93 percents respectively.
In 2015, the New Year hope in the upper to middle class was 93%, 92% in the masa, and 88% among the very poor class.
No one knows what the new year might actually bring but an optimistic perspective could already be a plus factor in embracing another set of months.
The results of the SWS survey somehow show that Filipinos still keep on believing and hoping that a better and a brighter tomorrow awaits.
Naglaho ba parang bula?!
