Jonvic Remulla shared this statement about Jinggoy Estrada
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory (QCJMD) is prepared to accommodate Sen. Jinggoy Estrada if the Sandiganbayan issues an arrest warrant in his plunder case.
On May 28, 2026, the Office of the Ombudsman officially filed a new plunder case and two counts of graft against Estrada before the Sandiganbayan.
In Estrada’s political career, it is his third time facing plunder charges. He was previously acquitted in the jueteng operations case, back in 2007, and the high-profile pork barrel scam case.

The recent case filed against Sen. Jinggoy Estrada was connected to his alleged involvement in the anomalous flood control projects.
Based on the report from Manila Bulletin, DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla stated that the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has already prepared the detention cell for Estrada in the event of his arrest.
The lawmaker is facing a non-bailable plunder charge over alleged kickbacks from flood control projects. As of this writing, the Sandiganbayan has yet to issue a warrant of arrest in the case.
Estrada has already posted bail for a separate graft charge pending before the anti-graft court. If the senator is jailed, Estrada will be housed with former Senator Bong Revilla, who is also one of his closest friends in the showbiz and politics.

It is the same area where other high-profile inmates and those who are accused of the flood control scandal are designated to be housed.
Reports stated that on May 29, 2026, Estrada posted P90,000 bail before the Sandiganbayan due to the graft charges filed against him over alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
This came from the allegation about the illegal budget insertions and the disbursement of over P573 million in supposed kickbacks connected to the infrastructure projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
